Interesting Free Podcasts
WOW! an actual post! yeah, it's been a while, but no one reads me anyway, so what the hell.
I often have free time in public places, shopping, waiting rooms etc. And I find that I must blot out the constant barrage of overplayed 60's and 70's pop and rock music which is invariably bombarding me in these public places. So I carry my cheap Ipod knock off with me everywhere I go. (Sanyo Sandisk, highly recommended) But I get tired of music all the time and sometimes want to here something a engaging. I listen to a lot of talk radio, but at certain times there is nothing good on, especially weekends. So I have found sources for FREE podcasts you can download. First for sports fans there is ESPN podcast center. They are usually about 25 minutes running time and are basically condensed versions of their popular shows, but some of them are unique podcasts generated for avid fans of one sport of another. the link is here Another good source of many podcasts which discus economics, and politics is the Libertarian think tank, Cato institute. They have a daily podcast which runs usually 15-20 minutes in which a single topic is always covered. These are in the form of questions and answers with book authors and researchers. I like them a lot, very informative. the link is here. For discussions of history, as well as world affairs there is Dan Carlin. his site is here. He can be a bit repetitive but his takes are always interesting. Finally, for quick news bites and the longer hour long Sunday show. you can go to Fox News. (Sorry you Fox haters, but CNN and MSNBC do not offer free podcasts, you have to buy them from Itunes. I avoid Itunes like the plague. It does terrible things to your computer. It wants to take total control of it.). You can get it here. Well, sorry for the long time without a posting, but no one reads it anyway. If you happened on this and found some good links then please let me know.
