The panel had the big old Lefty Richard Cohen, the beleaguered moderate Morton Kondracke and conservatives such as Ramesh Ponnuru and Laura Ingraham (who is looking hot with her short feathered haircut). Laura was upbeat about the future, while Morton and Ramesh were a bit down in the dumps.
But the person who made the most sense on the panel was former congressman Micky Edwards (I always wonder about how Jewish guys get Irish names).
When they opened the panel for questions the lefty historian Shawn Willentz spoke up about something Ingraham had said. She accurately described the Historian Author Schlessinger as a socialist. Willentz was outraged and accused her of misquoting his old friend. I thought Willentz embarrassed himself. Anyone who has followed Schlessinger over the years knows he believed in socialist redistribution policies. I hate it when this sorry old lefties wont own up to the harm they inflicted on our society.
Kondrake and Edwards were both wrong on the Immigration problem by trying to create a straw-man about "nativists" who are against all immigration. Yes, there are a few people like that, but there are many more who are only questioning the sheer numbers we have streaming into the country and asking if we need so many at one time.
It was an interesting Q & A. I wish we could see things like this more often.
